(JACKSON, Ms) WCBI – Lee County Justice Court Judge Rickey Thompson is not going down without a fight.
On the eve of the day he is scheduled to be removed from office. Thompson is asking the State Supreme court to rescind, overturn and remand the decision which took him out of office.  In this filing, Thomson defends all of the actions the Judicial on Commission Performance cited in their petition to remove him. Thompson says he was told the paperwork to re-certify the Lee County drug court had been filed and only found out that was not true when the director left.  He also says he had the okay of both the Tupelo Council and Lee County Board of supervisors to bring drug offenders from other municipalities into the program.  It is not certain on when the motion will be heard by the court of if today’s filing will block his removal from office set for Thursday.
