Tornado Death Toll Climbs

PEARL – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has received confirmation of an eleventh death as a result of tornadoes that struck the state Dec. 23. The Coahoma County Coroner reports a person died at a Memphis hospital where they were being treated for injuries since the storms.

The following counties have reported deaths:

• Six in Benton Co.
• Two in Coahoma Co.
• Two in Marshall Co.
• One in Tippah Co.

The State Emergency Operations Center remains partially activated with key agencies to assist local governments with storm recovery
