Trooper Involved Crash In Chickasaw County

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Mississippi Highway Patrolman is involved in a fatal crash this morning in Chickasaw County.

The wreck happened around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 32 at the intersection of County Road 409 near New Houlka.

A gold Ford Taurus was West bound when it collided with an East bound Tahoe driven by a Mississippi Highway Patrolman.

Master Sargent Criss Turnipseed says Shirley Harris, 72, of Bruce died at the scene.

A passenger in the car, Ruth Clippard, 72, of Houlka was taken to a Tupelo hospital with critical injures.

The trooper was taken to a Calhoun City hospital with minor injuries.

“The trooper was taken, he was taken by another trooper, which is part of our procedure for him to be checked out. So, he was taken from the scene. The trooper was the one who reported the crash. He called us on the radio and reported the crash,” says Turnipseed.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
