Tupelo Apartment Shooting Suspect Related To Murder Victim

TUPELO (WCBI) – A new twist tonight in last week’s double homicide case in Tupelo. WCBI has confirmed one of the men arrested Monday for a shooting at a Tupelo apartment complex is the brother of one of the homicide victims.

Tupelo Police arrested Maurice Shannon Monday on charges of shooting in a dwelling That took place last Thursday at the Hilldale Apartments in Tupelo. The apartment shooting happened about 4 hours after two men were found shot to death in a home on West Jackson Street.
One of the men killed on West Jackson was Timothy Butler.  Now we know Butler is the brother of Maurice Shannon one of the men charged with the Hilldale shooting. Tupelo Police have said they were looking at a connection between the murders and the apartment case. Police are not commenting on what role the family connection is playing in the investigation or if Butler’s death is a motive for Shannon opening fire at the apartment complex.
