Tupelo School Cancellation

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- A boil water notice forces one Tupelo school to shut down for the day.

The state Department of Health issued a boil water notice yesterday, October 19, for all customers of the City’s water system. Water samples showed the presence of E. Coli bacteria.

Residents are urged to boil water for at least one minute before use, or use bottled water.

As a result, Tupelo Christian Preparatory School has decided to cancel school today to keep students safe.

The school said a make-up day will be scheduled at a later time.

Tupelo public schools are expected to stay open. The school said water fountains will not be available for use. They will provide bottled water for students throughout the day.
