Two Injured In Lowndes County Car Crash

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A two car crash in Lowndes County sends two people to the hospital this afternoon, March 27.

The accident happened on Highway 45 South, at the Whispering Pines Road intersection.

Master Sgt. Criss Turnipseed says a Chevy Mailbu was crossing the intersection there, failed to yield then collided with another car.

Two Macon residents, Lucy Roby, 66, Mattie Smith, 81, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Volunteer firefighters used the jaws of life to free one person inside a Chevrolet Impala.

The impact was so hard, it knocked the tire off of one of the cars.

State troopers are investigating the crash.
