Two Races Headed for Runoff

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Two races from Tuesday night, are now heading into a runoff.

The Chancery and Circuit Clerks races will have a few more weeks before a winner is elected.

In the Chancery Clerks race, Martesa Bishop Flowers, will run against Sharon Livingston.

In the Circuit Court Clerks race, Teresa Davis will run against Tony Rook.

The Runoff is set for November 28th.

When asked what she’d bring to the table if elected Chancery Clerk, Livingston spoke of future upgrades.

“I’ve been the interim for a year now and I’ve been with the Chancery Clerk’s office for 18 years, so there is a lot of things that Monica was teaching me to do that she was not able to do, so we are looking at upgrading the new computer system and doing a lot of things that the public have asked us to do, so that’s going to be our goals,” said Livingston.

Flowers expressed her passion for the county and hopes for a win.

“What I would like to do, I’m running, I’m willing, I’m definitely passionate about their community,” said Flowers. “I feel like I have the background as well as experience in order to be able to effectively manage this particular office and continue to move Oktibbeha County forward and I’m excited. I’m just asking the community for their support.”

Also Tuesday night, Shank Phelps defeated Jim Morse, to win the Constable District one race.
