Two separate homicide investigations ongoing in Monroe County

There are two ongoing homicide investigations in Monroe County.

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Two people are dead in two different homicide investigations in Monroe County.

Coroner Alan Gurley said Leviathan Oneal Troope, 29, of Aberdeen, was shot on Tuesday night.

Aberdeen police were called to the intersection of Drake Avenue and Wasson Boulevard at about 9:54 p.m.

Officers found Troope lying in the street behind his car. Another person was shot during the incident.

Preliminary evidence suggested a person walking down the street may have shot Troope.

That gunman ran from the scene after the shooting.

Aberdeen police were investigating this homicide. An autopsy was planned for Troope.

In the second case, Monroe County deputies were investigating the death of Geraldine Demathieu, 87.

Deputies were called to Central Grove Road on Sunday afternoon.

Gurley said another family member called 911 and was waiting for deputies when they arrived. He was taken to the hospital for his injury.

Demathieu was found inside the home.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department was investigating this case.

Gurley released information about the incidents on December 6.
