Two Tupelo schools placed on partial lockdown

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – More officers will be making their presence known at a Tupelo school in response to a threat being made.

Tupelo Middle School has been placed on a partial lockdown while police investigate. Pierce Street Elementary School, which is right next to Tupelo Middle School, has also been placed on a partial lockdown.

School district spokesman Greg Ellis said the concern began after a student received an alarming text message Thursday morning.

Investigators are trying to figure out the source of the text.
