Two Weekend Shootings Take Place In Chickasaw County

CHICKASAW CO., Miss. (WCBI) – WCBI has received information that two shootings took place over the weekend in Chickasaw County.

The first shooting happened around noon Sunday on Airport Road.

Houston Police Chief Billy Voyles tells WCBI Woodland resident Willie Atkinson was shot in the arm with a .22 caliber rifle.

Voyles says it was a dispute over money.

Houston Police are looking for 25-year-old Cynthia Ellis in connection with that shooting.

The Chickasaw Journal reports that a second shooting took place around 9:30 Sunday night, where a man was shot several times in front of his home, and is now in the hospital listed in stable condition.

No suspects’ names have been released in that case.

WCBI has reached out to Chickasaw County Sheriff James Meyers for comment on that second shooting.

We will update this story if and when we hear back from him.
