U.S. News ranks The W high among regional universities

(Press Release) COLUMBUS, Miss. — Once again, Mississippi University for Women has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 20 public Southern regional universities.

According to rankings released today [Sept. 13], The W was listed 15th among the public Southern regional institutions. MUW also was ranked in the top 100 graduate nursing programs at public universities nationally.

According to U.S. News & World Report, it cannot measure the various factors that make up the college experience. “But for families concerned with finding the best academic value for their money, the U.S. News Best Colleges ranking provide an excellent starting point for the search.”

MUW President Jim Borsig said, “Providing a high-quality, affordable education is an institutional priority for our university, and we’re especially proud of this particular ranking. It is important for universities to retain and graduate students with the least debt necessary.”

Rankings enable individuals to compare at a glance the relative quality of institutions based on indicators such as freshman retention and graduation rates and the strength of the faculty.

The U.S. News formula uses quantitative measures that education experts have proposed as reliable indicators of academic quality, and it’s based on U.S. News’ researched view of what matters in education.
