Video: Union Group Leader Charged With Embezzling

CALEDONIA, Miss. (WCBI) – The president of a local union chapter is accused of stealing over a quarter million dollars from the labor group.

64 year old Danny Woodcock of Caledonia is facing a 48 count federal indictment accusing him of taking over $268,000 from the Communication Workers of America Local Chapter’s checking account.

Court records say the alleged thefts started in February 2013 and continued through September 2016.

Federal prosecutors say Woodcock would transfer amounts ranging from $1,000 to $14,000 directly into his personal account.

The transfers took place on an almost monthly basis with the majority being 5 to 6 thousand dollar transfers.

Woodcock pleaded not guilty to the charge Thursday and is currently free on bond.
