Update: Columbus Teen Dies After Hours In Critical Condition

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus teen shot in the head during a dangerous game has died.

17 year-old Tovaris Deloach died yesterday afternoon, November 1.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant confirmed his passing this morning.

Columbus police were called to 149 Poplar Street Tuesday night.

Witnesses told officers that Deloach talked about “Russian Roulette” and put one bullet in a gun. The second time he pulled the trigger the gun fired.

Investigators say forensic evidence supports the information witnesses gave to officers.

CPD says there was retaliatory shooting early the next morning at a home next door that stemmed from the shooting.

About seven hours later, officers were called to a house next door about shots being fired at a home.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
