UPDATE: Fire Investigation Continues

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The investigation continues into a deadly Thanksgiving evening fire in West Point.

62 year-old William Brownlee died inside the Washington Street home.

The West Point fire and police departments are still working to determine what started the blaze.

Fire Chief Ken Wilbourne believes the fire started in the room where Brownlee was found.

Police investigators say the Clay County man’s body was sent for an autopsy.

“At this present time, we don’t have the findings of the autopsy, but we should be getting those findings sometime this week,” says WPPD Assistant Chief, Kennedy Meaders.

The state fire marshal is also assisting with the investigation.
