UPDATE: At least one questioned about latest American Furniture fire

PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) – American Furniture in Pontotoc is dealing with another massive fire at its Pontotoc campus.

The plant located on Highway 15 caught fire around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Plant 2 of the complex is heavily damaged as firemen from Lee, Pontotoc and Union counties are all working to contain the fire.

WCBI’s Allie Martin has learned that authorities are talking to one person who was seen running from the building just as the fire began.

They are stopping short of calling the person a suspect because it is too early to even begin discussing if the fire was intentional.

This is the 3rd American Furniture fire in the past 13 months.

An October 2018 fire destroyed a building and that fire is considered arson.

A January 2018 blaze damaged another part of the complex.
