Woman Dies From Injuries Suffered In Wednesday Fire

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Calhoun County woman has passed away from injuries suffered in an early morning fire.

Sheriff Greg Pollan says the County Road 130 fire started just after 1:00 this morning, February 7, at the home of 57-year-old Sandy McCullar.

McCullar was able to initially escape the blaze but was burned when she went back into the home to rescue a pet.

She was flown to Memphis where she died this afternoon from her injuries.

Pollan says his office and the state fire marshal will be working together to pinpoint the cause of the fire.
