Video: Vacant Seats Filled in West Point

[bitsontherun TtNVlofe][bitsontherun 1ZTSpb6K]WEST POINT, Miss. – (WCBI) A West Point attorney is sworn in as the city’s first African- American city Judge.

Bennie Jones took the oath of office at Tuesday night’s Selectman meeting. Jones will serve as the city judge until June 30th at which point a new city administration will take over. Jones he has plans to apply again.

He is taking the place of Judge Mark Cliett, who resigned last month.  Two new police officers were also sworn in at the meeting.

Meanwhile,  Trina Davis has been chosen as West Point’s new city prosecutor.

Davis could take the place of Angela Turner Lairy, who left the position to fill her father’s Senate seat.  If Davis gets approval from her current employer, will also serve until the new administration takes over this summer. The new board will decide on who will serve for the next four years as municipal judge and municipal prosecuting attorney.
