A Vernon man & his truck make history Thursday night

VERNON, Ala. (WCBI)- A Vernon man and his truck make History Thursday night as he takes on the grueling course in the History Channel’s “Truck Night in America.”

“It goes really, really fast,” said Tim Edwards.

He’s competing in Season 2 of “Truck Night in America.

His truck, dubbed Puddle Duck, is rebuilt for off road racing.

The mud slingin’ racing is about to take the national spotlight on the History Channel.

“It’s tested on strength, power, maneuverability. Just the typical off roading situation that a normal person would have to know to do that,” said Edwards.

According to the shows website, 50 people from across the nation are chosen to compete.

It’s a competition Edwards say’s his truck is ready for.

“I thought the little machine could do it. I just knew in my heart my machine could do it,” said Edwards.

While he can’t go into detail about the rough terrain he says the course is pretty tough.

“It’ll be a lot of pulling against each other. A lot of technical skills. They’ve got a new challenge called the Travel Trailer,” said Edwards.

All to get to one point in the race called the Green Hell.

“Three and half miles of the most grueling course you can imagine,” said Edwards.

While we have to wait for the outcome, Edwards says the experience was a once in a life time chance.

“Here we come Augusta, Georgia.”

The show airs on the History Channel at 9 p.m. Thursday.

Before the big premiere Tim and the ride will be at Edwards Car Wash in Vernon for the chance to sit in the drivers seat from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
