VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) — A little hard bargaining and some actual counting adds up to big savings for the town of Vernon, Ala.

The city will save almost $2,000 per month under a new contract with Waste Management, the company paid to pick up residential garbage each week.

The city had been paying for more than 1,000 units, but an actual count discovered the number was 154 less. At more than $12 per stop, city leaders say it’s a significant amount of money.
