STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI)-Students at two Starkville schools will benefit from a donation from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
The local alumni and Mississippi State chapters are hosting the fraternity’s 3-day regional leadership conference this weekend in Starkville.
As part of the conference, the men presented a check to Starkville Oktibbeha Schools superintendent, Dr. Eddie Peasant, to be used to purchase supplies at Henderson Ward Stewart and Sudduth Elementary schools.
Fraternity leaders say service is an important component of their work.
“Well, every place that we go, when we have a conference, we try to positively effect the community. Well what better way, our national initiative in education. So, we have the funds, we have the men that can take care of the business. Right now, we wanted to make sure we could touch the education here in Starkville,”said Regional Organization President Theron Hightower.
More than 500 members of Kappa Alpha Psi are attending the conference at The Mill in Starkville.
