VIDEO: 4th Annual Wings Over Winston County Air Show

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Pilots, from all over, are polishing up their wings to take a few trips over Winston County.

The Wings Over Winston County Air show is in it’s 4th year.

The Wings Over Winston County Air Show is right on time to go up, up and away.

“I think this is going to be our biggest and best one ever. We’ve got some of the greatest acts from around the country coming in here to do aerobatics and to fly all over the sky in Louisville,”said Louisville Winston County Air Port President Mike Forster.

Gates to Saturday’s event will open at 9am. The show officially kicks off at 11am and concludes at 2pm.

There will be free shuttles, parking, and admission for the public.

Though there’s a threat of rain, Saturday, Forster he says that’s not going to slow them down.

“Might want to bring an umbrella, might not be a bad idea, but I don’t think we’ll have a lot of rain. The show will go on, we are not concerned about low ceilings or anything of that sort. We’re highly confident that everything going to be just fine,”said Forster.

The show will feature, award winning pilot Randy Henderson, with The Texas T-cart Air show.

Henderson says he hopes his performance leaves a lasting impression on the area but especially the kids.

“To see the smiles on the kids faces. We do this mentoring. I had a mentor coming up in our aviation career. I had a guy carry me all the way to the captain’s ship of south west airlines, 35 years. So we do it for the kids to spur a thought or whatever that might carry them into aviation. Aviation’s wide open,”said Henderson.

Preparation actually begins 6 months prior to the show, but Forster says none of it would be possible without a little help.

” We have wonderful support form our; Mayor and board of aldermen, our county board, and our local businesses. It’s because of them we’re able to make this  free to the public and we like doing that because it doesn’t stop anybody from coming out here and seeing our great air port and seeing these wonderful planes and these marvelous aviators,”said Forster.

The air port will be closed to general air traffic for the duration of the show.
