VIDEO: Aberdeen Board Of Alderman Votes To Dismiss City Building Inspector

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI)-Tempers flared tonight during Aberdeen’s Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday.

It was almost two weeks ago when the board voted to replace the Director of the Electric Department, Brian Sanders.

However, on Tuesday, the board voted to reinstate Sanders and maintain his current salary.

Also during the meeting, the board voted three to two to relieve current city building inspector David Low of his duties.

Mayor Maurice Howard said the board made a terrible decision by firing Low.

“I am very disappointed with the firing of David Low,” Mayor Howard said. “I am very disappointed. Alderman Ewing had a personal vendetta against Mr. Low, and he made sure that his voice was heard today. This was something that was already pre-conceived, they thought this out even before coming to this meeting. They pre-planned which is against the law, and they came in and fired a good worker that I am sorry to lose.”

“Mr. Low has not been brought in,  he has not been chastised, he has no right ups, none of the above,” said Lady Garth, Ward 2 alderwoman, “It’s a personal vendetta against that man.”

Ward three alderman David Ewing made the motion to dismiss Low

He declined an on camera comment.

However during the meeting, Ewing stated that he wanted Low dismissed, because he’s unhappy about lots in the city not being properly taken care of.

At this time it’s unclear whether Low’s termination is effective immediately.
