ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – The Day Commission is actively looking for pictures, furniture, jewelry, and other memorabilia from the pre and post Civil War Era.

The historic pieces specific to the Sykes Family will be displayed in this upstairs room of the Magnolias.

Aberdeen was once the second largest city in Mississippi, second only to Natchez during the 1800’s.

The three Sykes Brothers are said to have been influential citizens of that era.

A reception is expected to be held in June 16, 2013.

Members of the Sykes family are expected to gather from all around the country to reminisce on a bygone era in our not so distant past.
