COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Registration is underway for a new school year, and school districts want to be sure students are actually going to the right schools. Updated and accurate residency forms are required at the time of registration as proof the students live within that school district.

Both new and returning students have to provide the documentation. And in the case of a student not living with a parent, a signed affidavit from the person with whom the student resides will be required.[TAKE SOT]

“We realize that in the times we live in right now, a lot of people are in busted up homes and a lot of people have to live with grandparents, aunts, and uncles, so a lot of these are legitimate changes, legitimate addresses, but we have to have that verification, we’re required by the state.”
Acceptable documents to prove verification includes, utility bills, Driver’s license, apartment or home lease, automobile registration.
