VIDEO: Annual Safety Town

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Junior Auxiliary Board, hosted it’s annual Safety Town event for over 550 kindergartners today.

The event took place at the Sportsplex in Starkville. Once there, the kids rotate around to different stations taught by local first responders.

They learn about everything safety and are educated about stranger danger. Learning how to contact emergency services when needed, is an added bonus.

Event leaders say it’s a easy way to teach the kids about a lot of important things, in a fun way.

“They are able to get face to face time with police officers, fire department, paramedics, poison control, bike safety, lifeguards, and then they’re also finger printed for a safety booklet for their parents to take home. It’s a lot of good personal time,” says event chair, Mallory Lacey.

The event will continue through until tomorrow for the second half of children.
