Video: Bond Denied for Columbus Man Charged in Weekend Shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A Columbus man charged with aggravated assault with a weapon made his first court appearance. 18-year-old alleged shooter Arthur Davidson’s bond was denied at his initial court appearance today. Davidson was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon following a shooting Saturday evening.

Details into exactly what caused the shooting have yet to be released, and Interim Police Chief Tony Carleton pressed the importance of community assistance during an investigation.

“For our department we want to be more transparent in the community and say, ‘Hey, we invite you in,” says Carleton. “We want to know what you know.’ Because that certainly helps. If we can solve this crime, we could possibly prevent another one from happening and wee need the community’s support on that.”
