TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Family and friends of Gabe Wiggington were at the Tupelo Regional Airport with plenty of time to spare.

This is a homecoming nearly four months in the making. Back on October 18th, Gabe was with his granddad in Mantachie.

“I had set a , trying to burn fuel out of a tank, I thought it was out, turned it around, may have been an ember, when I turned it over, Gabe run around me to watch it fall and something sparked it and reignited the fumes,” Granddad Jimmy Ensley recounted.

Since then, Gabe , who is a big spiderman fan, and his mother, Tiffany, have spent most of their time at a burn center near Atlanta. Tiffany has kept family and friends up to date through a Facebook page called Prayers for Gabe.

This morning, the update everyone had been waiting for, Gabe was on his way home.

Around three o clock, family, friends and FB followers headed to the tarmac as the plane touched down.

Gabe’s family has been overwhelmed at the outpouring of support.

“Now it’s almost like 28 thousand people praying for him and keeping up with him and that’s amazing to have so many people, such a big support group and that’s no doubt helped us out through this so much,” Tiffany said.

“Even the doctors said there is no medical reason for this child to still be alive , if there’s no medical reason, no scientific proof why this child should be alive, then there’s only one thing and that’s God,” Ensley said.

Gabe heads back to Atlanta in two weeks to have casts removed from his legs. Over the next year there will be more medical procedures and more doctor visits, but his family and friends say they are glad to have the three year old superhero back home where he belongs.
