VIDEO: Busy Bridge In Lee County Will Be Closing

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A busy bridge in Lee County is closing leaving drivers having to find another route.

The bridge is located on County Road 520 between Old Highway 6 and Highway 45.

State engineers examined the bridge and discovered in was in critical condition.

Road manager Tim Allred said the bridge’s piers and pilings were in a bad condition, now the bridge will be completely closed while those repairs are made.

“If you are on highway 45, you will not be able to crossover between Brewer and go to Highway 6. If you are on Highway 6, you will not be able to crossover and get to 45. Your only two options are to go to Nettleton and get on 45, or go to Tupelo and crossover at Eason Boulevard,” said Tim Allred, Lee County road manager.

Allred expects the repairs to take anywhere from two weeks to a month.

The bridge will officially be closed beginning Tuesday morning.
