Video: Buying Sunglasses

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – They make a great fashion statement. We love our sunglasses. And there’s even a day to celebrate them. Monday was National Sunglasses Day. But the day was dedicated to awareness about proper protection from the sun.

According to the Visions Council, more than one in three adults have experienced symptoms from unprotected UV exposure.

West Point optometrist, Dr. Stacie Moore says UV light from the sun can damage the eyes and cause damage that may not be repairable.

Moore adds that price is not important.  She says, “As long as the lens says UV protection you have adequate coverage no matter what price you spend.”

She also reminds parents to protect their children’s eyes when they are playing outdoor sports.
