STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – I.M.A.G.E.S. women’s organization hosted a candle light vigil Thursday night in honor of those who have been affected by breast cancer.

The event was held in the parking lot of the Beautiful Boutique in Starkville. Several survivors and family members of survivors were in attendence. There was also a pink balloon release, poem readings and prayers for those affected.

I.M.A.G.E.S. would like women to stay informed and request regular check-ups from their doctor.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2010 there are 26 breast cancer related deaths for every 1000 women.
