Ackerman, Miss.(WCBI)-Choctaw County Schools Board members adopted their 2013-2014 school budget during a special called meeting this morning [Tuesday].

The three point one million dollar budget comes after a two year effort to consolidate schools there in Ackerman, Weir, and French Camp.

Factored into that budget picture….higher premiums for property liability insurance.

“Its just one of those things we have to deal with, but we shop around, try to get the lowest quote but unfortunately its an increase of 113 percent has hit just our district alone,” said Superintendent Stewart G. Beard, Jr.

The Choctaw County School budget was adopted with little discussion and hesitation.

It is such a shame that the school board is combining all schools. It will never be the same for all of us that attended Ackerman High School. It is a big mistake that you are making. All of you need to be kicked off the school board. You are a disgrace to this county !!! You could have found another way without even touching Ackerman High School. Just wait until you get older…you should feel the same way about where you went to school and traditions; but you people do not care about traditions and attachments to people and places !!! Most of you probably have not lived here in Choctaw County all your lives like some of us have and don’t care !!!! You are pitiful !!!
