COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus is closer to taking a big-city approach to revitalizing some of his oldest neighborhoods. The City Council is expected Tuesday to define several commercial and residential areas around the city as urban renewal areas. City leaders also will discuss possible incentives, possible grant programs and other steps to encourage investors to spend money in those areas. The discussion will include establishing a redevelopment authority to help coordinate recruiting developers.
