Video: Columbus Corner Goes From Eyesore to Greenspace

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -The corner of 4th Street North and Main in Columbus is going green…literally.

Crews went to work Monday afternoon planting grass at the former site of the Gilmer Inn.

The turf specialists used a unique process called “hydro seeding” to get the new green space going. Workers shoot a stream of seed and fertilizer mixed with water directly into the soil to jump start growth.

The city is converting the lot into green space, until they find a permanent use for it.
