Video: Columbus Fire Officials Believe Arson Involved in Recent House Fire

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –Columbus Fire and Rescue has ruled a recent fire an act of arson.

Now, investigators are asking for the public’s help to uncover more information.

They told us someone intentionally set multiple fires inside a Columbus house last week, causing extensive damage.

People nearby said they heard an explosion on 12th Avenue North…

They’re trying to find the person or people responsible. Someone may have sustained injuries while starting these fires…

They found a blue kerosene can inside – they’re wondering if anyone saw someone carrying it in or out of the house.

A woman, her three children and her boyfriend live there. They were not home when the fire broke out. Investigators have spoken with them at length, but do not have any suspects right now.

The public can be of help in giving us notifications, tips of anything they saw leading up to the event, after the event. It is challenging to convict these cases because you do need physical evidence, proof or a confession.”
