COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – With Summer just around the corner many families will be hitting the highways. Thursday afternoon, Columbus Firefighters were busy helping some of them make sure that their youngest members would be traveling safely.

Columbus Fire Rescue set up a car seat checkpoint in the K-Mart parking lot. Crews were on hand to inspect car seats, making sure that they were properly installed, and to provide proper set-up.
“Statistics are about 90% of the car seats installed are done incorrectly, so it’s important to make sure they are installed the right way to insure the safety of the child.”
