VIDEO: Columbus High School Counselors On Hand As Teens Rally Behind Classmate Injured In Shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- As a Columbus High School student is fighting for his life after a shooting in East Columbus, school leaders are offering counseling services for students and teachers who know him.

The 17 year old is in critical condition after being shot in the head Halloween night, according to Columbus Police.

Columbus High School Principal, Lori Cargile described Wednesday as a quiet day at the school.

School counselors roamed the hallways to let students know they were available if anyone needed to talk.

Cargile says in times of tragedy everyone pulls together.

“Our students are very resilient. In times like this is when they come together and truly bind together as one to provide that support that’s necessary, and we have a great group of teachers that monitor the students and our counseling staff has done a wonderful job,” said Cargile.

Cargile says the school will provide the services to students as needed.
