VIDEO: Columbus Holds Veterans Day Parade

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – On this Veterans Day, hundreds lined the streets to honor and show support for veterans living in Columbus. The city along with the Columbus Air Force base held its’ annual Veterans Day Parade and wreath laying ceremony. The parade included 26 vehicles and multiple marching formations. It began at the Columbus Municipal Department and traveled west along Main St. to the Lowndes County Courthouse, where a wreath-laying ceremony was held. Chief Master Sergeant Brad Reilly said the collaboration between the city of Columbus and the Columbus Air Force base that makes Columbus’ Veterans Day celebration so special.

“I’ve never been to a base that has been so intertwined with the community. The people of Columbus embrace our mission. They’ve supported the base for 75 years. It’s just an incredible thing. Unless you’ve been other places you may take it for granted. But, once you’ve been here and leave you realize what you’ve got,” said Brad Reilly.
