COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — You’ve seen the images of Columbus schools being evacuated because of an ongoing bomb threat problem.

Precautions were taken once again today as two threats were made at two different schools.

A threatening note was first found at Stokes-Beard Elementary School this morning. A short time later, another was found at Columbus High.

Total, there have been five threats this week, and ten this school year.

Meanwhile, the Columbus board and emergency personnel from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), along with the police and fire departments met today to start developing a strategy to address this bomb threat epidemic.

Schools are increasing hall and bathroom monitors and video surveillance to deter and catch suspects.

An anonymous tip line is also set up.

Parents may be sued to recover costs associated with lost school time and emergency response.
