COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Columbus police believe two more shootings are connected. Chief Shelton says officers were called to the 100 block of Maple Street after a home was hit with two bullets on Monday evening.

Witnesses reported seeing a black Dodge Challenger speed away from the scene. Later, investigators received a tip about a possible suspect.

Just after 3 AM Tuesday, CPD was called to a home on Woolbright Street that was hit at least once.

Shelton says that home on Woolbright Street is where a friend of the suspect lived.

He believes it was a retaliation shooting.

A person of interest is in custody, after law enforcement tried to pull him over. Shelton says the person of interest initially failed to yield to officers but was eventually arrested.
