Video: Columbus Woman Hospitalized after Wreck

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi state troopers are investigating a wreck that sent a Columbus woman to the hospital.

The wreck happened on Highway 82 west of Highway 45 Alternate in Lowndes County shortly before 4 p.m., Saturday.

Officials with Mississippi Highway Patrol say Michael Moss lost control of his car, and crashed into a cable barrier.

Troopers tell WCBI his passenger, Denise Williams, was airlifted to a Tupelo hospital after she was thrown out of the car.

They say she wasn’t wearing her seatbelt.

MHP had to shut down part of the highway for about 30 minutes so the medical helicopter could land.

Troopers say Moss wasn’t injured, and was wearing wearing his seatbelt.
