VIDEO: CPD Officers Rewarded For A Good Deed
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus police officer is rewarded for doing a good deed.
The Department’s Overview Committee selected Officer Roman Sones for the award.
While on duty, Sones was on Alabama Street and came across a broke down bus at 2:30 in the morning.
He pulled over to see what was going on, and then helped the driver push the bus to a gas station a block away.
He says he wanted to make sure the driver was not in harm’s way, while he waited on a tow truck.
“Pretty great, not every day we get a chance to get recognized for something we do, but I mean there’s at least one hundred other good officers out here in this area who do even better things than I did, and don’t get recognized,” says Sones.
Sones has been with C.P.D. for two years, and is the first person in his family to serve in law enforcement.
