Video: Disturbance Prompts School Lockdown

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) –  A Starkville school was placed on a lockdown Thursday morning during a disturbance at a nearby apartment complex.

It happened near Henderson Ward Stewart School.

Officers arrested Nicholas Monroe, 24, after responding to calls that he was threatening neighbors at an apartment complex on Pilcher Street.

Police say Monroe then barricaded himself inside an apartment and they believed he had a weapon. He was arrested without incident.

The apartment complex is in close proximity to the school which, prompted the brief lockdown.

Monroe is charged with trespassing and was served seven outstanding trespassing warrants.

Additional charges are pending.
