COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — East Columbus tornado damage could be seen all through the neighborhoods. Residents and home owners spent Wednesday assessing what work needed to be done. Neighbors were helping each other clear debris and limbs from yards and homes. Much of the area is without power. One mother road the storm out with her kids and tells of the frightening moments.

“We heard the thump of the house and I was like kids we’ve been hit,” said one resident. “So we stayed in the closet and prayed. The power went out first and then it was out.”

Columbus Light and Water are expecting to have the power hooked up to most of the homes by Friday.
