AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) – Area emergency responders are learning how to answer calls to multiple disasters.

The Monroe County Emergency Management Agency hosted the disaster exercise on Monday in Amory.

Everyone from law enforcement to firefighters to educators were shown a hazardous disaster, then developed a plan of action.

The twist in the training came when there was a second incident.

EMA officials say there has to be enough people to respond to both scenes.

“We hope this situation never happens, but we did perform a valuable study during hazardous mitigation plan for our region and transportation did include hazardous materials. One of our specific risks through Monroe County that the plan will help us to prepare for that situation, if it arises,” said Monroe County Emergency Management Agency Director Bunky Goza.

Emergency Mangers say training must involve many types of disasters, not just those associated with weather.
