VIDEO: A Family Returns To Coffeeville

COFFEEVILLE, Miss.(WCBI) – Local vendors aren’t the only ones lining the streets of the Coffeeville Day of Celebration.

Vendors from all over the Southeast attended Saturday’s event.

Including the New Orleans Connection sisters. Originally from Coffeeville, this duo has been attending the festival for 8 years, till it was discontinued in 2012.

Every time they visit, they bring the creole flavor with them. The sisters started making a variety of Cajun pasta’s and homemade ice cream using a family recipe.

Autrey Washington says with the return of the Coffeeville Day celebration, they are look forward to getting back to their roots.

“We have a new mayor here in Coffeeville Mr. Shelton. He wasn’t my teacher but he tough a lot of my sisters and brothers. He’s a good guy and since he’s restarting the festival, we wanted to be apart of it and to welcome him as mayor and hope that this will be the start to success for Coffeeville,”said Washington.

Coffeeville Day of Celebration is now regionally registered.
