MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -In Monroe county,  hundreds of people are wanted for what Sheriff Cecil Cantrell is calling, a historic round-up of offenders.

On Thursday night, our cameras watched Sheriff’s deputies arrest four people, but the number of suspects on the warrant list is much bigger. Sheriff Cantrell wants to arrest 466 people, involving 599 counts of criminal charges.

For nearly 12 months the Monroe County Sheriff’s department has been collecting evidence to serve the warrants. The majority of the cases involve drug offenses but investigators believe some of the suspects also committed burglary, robbery, and fraud. Cantrell says over a dozen deputies worked on the round-up, and they are going to arrest people throughout the night.

“You fool with drugs in Monroe County you’re going to pay the penalty of it,” Cantrell said. “We’re not going to tolerate this in our county. We’re trying to make a good, clean, safe county for our citizens, the good citizens of Monroe County,” he said.

According to Cantrell, this is the biggest warrant round-up he has ever seen.
