HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) — The Houston Chargers pee wee football team is returning home.

For 17 years, youth teams used the Houston High football field. This year, they had to play home games in Pontotoc and other places after the Houston school board nixed use of the high school field.

But the school board changed its mind after an attorney general’s opinion ruled the district would not be liable for injuries under the state’s new law dealing with concussions and sports.

Youth football organizers in Houston have a $1 million liability policy, get signed waivers from parents and have met other conditions required before being able to host games on the school’s field.

The town also is building fields at its park which should be ready next year for youth football and soccer.
