VIDEO: Humane Society 5K Fun Run

COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)- It was a chilly morning but that didn’t stop the participants from lasing up their sneakers and hitting the ground running.

The Columbus Humane Society teamed up with the Paws For Mississippi to host the 5k fun run and one mile walk for the last 3 years.

Runners got the chance to warm up at the Columbus River Walk at 8 a-m. Runners and walkers were also able to enjoy the event with their pets.

Owner of The Animal Clinic Of Columbus, and event organizer, Kerry Blanton says ,she hopes to continue this event to assist animals all over the area.

“The first year we did Paws For A Cause about almost three thousand dollars for the humane society. This past December, we were able to give almost five thousand. So, we are super appreciative of all of our supporters and we can definitely use any help, any body, wants to contribute,” said Blanton.

The organization’s original name was changed from paws for a cause to Paws of Mississippi.
