VIDEO: Identity of Child Killed in Afternoon Shooting Identified

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- We now know the name of the child killed in a shooting incident in East Columbus this afternoon.

Lowndes County Coroner’ Greg Merchant identified the victim as 12 year old Lagarius Morris.

Police say children were playing at a home on Florence Street in East Columbus when they discovered a semi automatic rifle.

A 13 year-old child accidentally discharged the rifle killing Morris.

The two were related, neither lived at the house.

After questioning several witnesses, police do not suspect foul play.
