VIDEO: The Impacts Of Turning The Clocks Back

STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI) – November 5th, clocks all over the Country will fall back an hour.

“It gives you an opportunity to get up in the morning, get a lot of things done before you go to work or whatever you chose to do,”said Starkville Resident.

“When it gets dark around 5:30 or so it gives me a little extra hour to be in side. I usually go to bed a little earlier,”said Starkville Resident.

For Starkville soccer mom Patricia Heflin, it’s no walk in the park.

“When it’s darker in the mornings it’s harder for them to get up and when they get home of course there’s things to do and homework and chores then if we do the activities then we’re getting home later and I think it all makes us feel more tired,”said Heflin.

Heflin is the mother of 2 girls, who are active in after school activities.

“My 13 year old is pretty active and she has activities that she participates in and then also my youngest is currently playing Starkville Soccer with the recreation, Starkville Parks,”said Heflin.

As the sun sets earlier, this family has to change its routine.

“Encourage them to plan ahead, we all plan a head and to know it’s temporary too because usually once you adapt you’re not as tired but we encourage them as far as homework studies get prepared and make a plan out for that. Plan their sports out,”said Heflin.

Heflin says the time change is a good reminder to do some odd jobs around the house.

“We make sure that our smoke detectors are working. Also other things like air filters light bulbs all the maintenance things you can think of,”said Heflin.

The official time to turn back the clocks is Sunday at 2 am.
